Our Clergy
As Anglicans, we see the local Church composed of two orders: Clergy and Laity.
The clergy are those set aside to shepherd, lead, teach and equip the congregation spiritually. The laity are the primary ministers of the Church taking the Gospel into the world in their daily lives and bringing others to Jesus.
Our rector (Pastor)
Father Sean is the founding rector of St Anselm Anglican Church. He is originally from Huron (a small town on the coast in northern Ohio). He grew up in the Faith at Christ Episcopal Church. he felt a call to ordained ministry from an early age. He was blessed with godly priests both at Christ Church and while at college at St. Matthews in Ashland Ohio who guided him.
He attended Ashland University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science, History, and Philosophy. He was awarded the Howard O. Rowe Award for the Best Senior Thesis in the Honors Program in 2005 on the thought of Anglican theologian Richard Hooker, was a member of the Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs and the Phi Sigma Tau Society of Philosophy.
After college he attended Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry before transferring to and graduated from Ashland Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. He was ordained a Deacon in 2007 and as a priest in 2008 by the Rt. Rev. Francis Lyons (Bishop of Bolivia) and the Rt. Rev. Roger Ames (Bishop in the Church of Nigeria, and the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes, ret.) He served as curate (an assistant priest) in Indiana and Ohio. He then served at St. Barnabas Anglican Church (Bay Village, OH) and Christ Church Westshore (Avon Lake, OH) as Assistant Rector. In 2014 Fr. Sean and a group of seven acted on God’s call to start a faithful orthodox Anglican congregation starting Lakewood Anglican Mission (now St. Anselm) as founding the vicar, and later, rector.
In October of 2024, Fr. Sean was installed as dean for the North Coast Deanery, as a part of the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes (ADGL), under the Rt. Rev. Mark Engle (Bishop of the ADGL). In this role Fr. Sean provides pastoral care for the priests in the deanery and assists with working on congregational development for the 6 parishes and missions in the area, in partnership with Bishop Engle and the Diocese.
God has blessed and continues to grow St. Anselm and Fr. Sean is happy to be the first Rector of this parish. Fr. Sean is married to the talented and wonderful Leah Templeton. They reside in Cleveland, Ohio with three beautiful children.
